Newborns are one of my favorites sessions to do!

Come into the studio, kick back on the couch and enjoy watching me create these special portraits of your little bundle.

I love having your input into the session styling, so I send out a little questionnaire for you once baby has been born which helps me come up with something perfect to suit your taste.  

Our precious new arrivals are only newborns for such a short time, which is why it is so important to capture them within there first 14 days of life. All newborn sessions come with a complementary 5 image milestone session which you can use anytime you like in there first year of life! no strings attached ! if you want to know what a milestone session is, go check out the milestone tab! COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS

DO I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING?

 

No! I literally have everything I need! All you need to bring me is the precious new bundle and a snack for yourself incase you get hungry (and your usual nappy bag of goodies)

WHERE DO I GO FOR THE SESSION?

 

When you book, you will get the studio address on the form you fill in, But the studio is located in Allenton, Ashburton.

WHATS THE BEST AGE TO DO THE SESSION?

 

The ideal age for a newborn session is between 5 and 14 days. At this stage, babies still spend most of their time sleeping and  still snuggle up in positions that are similar to those they held in the womb. Remember that babies grow fast, and after two weeks, your little one will start stretching their arms and legs more and will be less comfortable with posing—and less likely to stay asleep for most of the session. However, we can do babies o9lder than 14day but you may not get the type of photos your hoping for! It would be a lot more natural and awake.

HOW EARLY SHOULD I BOOK MY SESSION?

 

As early as you can is best! I only take on a certain amount of newborns per month so the earlier the better! However, if baby has arrived and your only just looking in to it now, still flick me a message and I will try my best to squeeze you in as sometimes I have last minute cancelations!

HOW DO WE BOOK A DATE IF BABY ISNT BORN ON ITS DUE DATE? 

 

I only pencil due dates when you book, so once baby has arrived this is when we would lock in the official date and time. so if baby is overdue or early, no panic! Just let me know and we can lock in your date! Very little babies come on there actual due date so I'm always prepared!

HOW LONG DOES THE SESSION GO FOR

 

This is a hard one to answer! It really depends on your little one on the day. If they are extra sleepy and sleep through the entire session, you could be done within an hour! If they need a couple of feeds and cuddles throughout it could be 2 hours and if you are having family included it could be up to 3 hours. But time goes past super fast and before you know it your on your way home!

WHAT SAFETY MESSURES DO YOU HAVE IN PLACE? 

 

I always clean every item that comes into contact with the skin after each baby along with sanitizing the studio. I also do not allow any people into the studio that are unwell to keep my space as clean and fresh as possible. I also have a certificate in newborn safety done through the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photographer's. I am all about being safe with such precious babies! I never stand up high over them on stalls etc. my feet stay firmly planted on the floor. If I need to get higher I simply do a composite (which is where we put 2 photos together) I will also ask a parent to come and keep a hand on baby if i need to step away out of arms reach to take the photo for extra safety as we know babies can flinch and move at any given moment! I am also fully insured through Rothbury to protect your investment!

DO I GET TO CHOOSE THE FINAL IMAGES?

 

Yes absolutely! Once your session is done, I will edit all your beautiful images and send you a  private online gallery to look at them all, this is when you will pick the ones you would like. By doing it this way, you get to take your time and not have any pressure while you choose! I give 5 days for you to pick so plenty of time to decide.

HOW LONG AFTER THE SESSION DOES IT TAKE TO GET MY PHOTOS?

 

I work super hard day and night to make sure my turn around time is not to long! I typically have your gallery edited ready within 7 days, but at peek times it may be up to 2 weeks. No one likes waiting right? So I also offer a sneak peek on social media within a day so you can instantly share and love on one of your images strait away!

WE DONT DO SOCIAL MEDIA

 

That's absolutely fine! not everyone does social media and these days not everyone wants there kids online and I 100% respect that! So when I send you your booking form, you will have the option to choose not to have me show your images online.

 

HOW WILL I GET MY IMAGES?

 

You will be able to download them all from a gallery onto your own devices, or you can purchase one of my wooden USB'S for $35

 DO YOU HAVE A PAYMENT PLAN OPTION?

​

Now that ZIP has closed, unfortunately i do not! but i am working on After pay! however, if your booking in early, you are welcome to make small payments up until the day to make things easier for you.
